Adverse community experience: individual trauma can lead to community trauma—destructive social norms, unemployment, deteriorated environments, and more. Taking a whole-community approach can help elevate all in this arena. Mentorship, career workshops, positive parenting skill workshops, affordable high-quality childcare, after school activities. ACEs can have long-term effects: not finishing schools, depression. ACEs can be prevented—5 strategies. Changing social norms, quality childcare and education early in life, enhancing parenting skills, intervening to lessen harms and prevent future risk.

About Us

Founded in 2011, the Fairmont Substance Abuse Prevention (FSAP) Coalition, now Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (MCSAP) is a group of friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers who work together to prevent underage substance use while promoting positive mental health and suicide prevention in Martin County, Minnesota. MCSAP shares resources, ideas, and information to raise community awareness, empowering individuals to make healthy choices through education, advocacy, and collaboration.
